Julia Greer : 2016

From Darkness

I once embarked a boundless trip
Of turning left and right.
There was bramble all around me
No single thing alike.

Nothing was below me
And I could not see the sky.
All but for my inner strength,
I was left alone to die.

Deserted by the moon and stars,
I was even without sight.
But desperate to be free again
I sought the endless night.

In travel, time escaped me
One day, one week, one year
But my spirit never weakened,
Nor hunger did I fear.

Then came the gift of caring
And I caught a glimmer bright.
Ergo my soul now whispers
A prayer for light, more light.
